I don't think you can actually call an alcove a shack but, since I last posted a picture, things have changed a bit, so here it is. On the left you can see my radios, the Yaesu FT1000MP MkV and the Icom IC7000. The rotator controller is for my Yaesu G-1000SDX, whick now works again! On the right is my Emachine PC running Ham Radio Deluxe and the GB7MBC Dxcluster window. The latest addition on top of the monitor is the MFJ-949E ATU. The microphone is the Heil GM5 switched to the broadcast insert. Morse key is the twin paddle Bencher. Usually the cat is on top of the radio but he is taking a nap elsewhere for a change!

Rearranging My Shack!

External ATU
I have never been impressed with the internal ATU in the Ft1000 MKV . Over the last year I have not been able to tune the Force12 beam on 17m, now it used to be ok and nothing has changed at this end. Yes I know its a tri-bander but it does work very well on the WARC bands when tuned up, and on 17m its a few S points up on the trap dipole. I now have a MFJ949 on loan and this loads the beam up very well on 17m. This weekend I am hoping to pick one of these ATUs up for myself. Having this ATU may also enable me to finally get back on Topband as well!
